Assignment Linking

Assignment linking creates “links” or relationships between key assignments (e.g., student work, rubric criteria*, individual quiz questions*) and learning and accreditation outcomes and competencies. Assignment linking allows Instructors and Program Coordinators to support assessment efforts by capturing direct assessment data on existing key assignments and making connections to outcomes and standards to improve student learning. To learn about assignment linking and its benefits and for a walkthrough within the platform, check out the assignment linking video walkthrough!

Product Tip

  • Program Assessment requires configuring a curriculum map and mapping Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) to one or more courses.

  • CLO assessment does not require configuring a curriculum map, and Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) can be assessed individually within the platform if the Enable Course Outcome (CLO) Assessment for Mapped Courses setting is enabled via Program Settings.

What are the Benefits of Assignment Linking?

  • With just one click, assignment, student work, rubric criteria* or even individual quiz questions* can be linked and support reporting capabilities at the institution, program, or accreditor outcome or competency.

  • Once the linkages are made, assessment data is collected automatically through the duration of the course and made accessible to key stakeholders, eliminating duplicative and manual processes for gathering and reporting.

  • Spend less time collecting assessment data and more time teaching courses. This linking process is done once, and it copies over every term with each administration of the course as long as the assignment does not change.

  • Link just once, report at multiple levels over time, and adjust how measures are calculated based on proficiency scales.

User Roles for Assignment Linking

Assignment linking can be performed via the Assignment Linking Manager or within the educational experience:

Assignment linking permissions are dependent on the user role assigned to a user and the level at which assignment linking is being performed.
